I’ve been so into buying skincare at Vitamin Cottage or just whipping up a DIY treatment that I’ve forgotten how truly decadent it is to hold a heavy glass jar and smell the scent of professionally blended formulas rich with essential oils and vitamins. Even the reflective boxes that Kat Burki’s beautifully crafted skincare come in have an inviting quality that make you excited to use what’s inside. It’s a natural line with technology like cell communicating ingredients and advanced delivery systems to assist the nutrients to penetrate better which in turn allow for healthier looking skin. She also uses all raw ingredients like cold pressed oils, nothing is heated over 120° to preserve the efficacy of each ingredient. All of this care and consideration pays off in a big way.
I’m not one who likes to spray things on my face, there’s something about it that just feels clunky and messy and leaves me wondering if it’s really doing anything. But this Balancing Elixir has changed my mind with its elegant mist that hits my skin evenly and absorbs quickly leaving a freshly hydrated feeling behind. It tightens, brightens, and gets the skin ready absorb whatever serum or moisturizer you follow it up with using vitamin C, lavender, aloe, raspberry, and grapefruit. It feels like something is happening and not with a tingle, but with an alive sort of energy that revs my skin up and makes it feel great.
The real raves go to the serums of course, one for the eyes and the one for the face. This Rose Hip Revitalizing Serum contains so many actives (its first 4 ingredients are flower and plants extracts), with the consistency of a light lotion that makes my skin instantly smooth and glowy. I first tried it on the back of one hand and could feel and see the difference between the two for hours. Rosehip oil is revered for its high concentration of antioxidants and fatty acids, while still absorbing quickly and treating everything from dry skin to eczema to acne. It feels like slipping on silk, delicate and soft and makes my skin instantly look better. Same goes for the Intense Recovery Eye Serum which has made such a difference in my fine lines and puffy morning eyes that over the years I’ve just come to just expect from the exhaustion of being a mom. It takes only minutes to zap my eye area into a more awake looking state, and it also provides a great primer for concealer to smooth over top of freshly hydrated skin.
Even I get into those skincare slumps where I just use whatever is sitting around because I start to think that it’s all the same, but Kat Burki reminded me how that isn’t true. This line is proof that natural ingredients can be just as effective as any other, and great looking skin is completely possible.
